Esalen© Massage

Esalen Massage

Esalen® Massage was developed in the 1960’s at the legendary Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA. It is well-known for its long flowing strokes and mindful touch. It helps to release the stresses of everyday life leaving the receiver feeling whole, integrated, deeply relaxed and in a natural state of well-being. Esalen practitioners use long, continuous, wave-like movements from your head to your toes, giving you a profound sense of wholeness. With its nurturing contact, integrating strokes, and detailed attention to the whole body, an Esalen Massage provides a state of deep relaxation and healing. Every session is entirely customized. Instead of forcing a body into a set protocol, the practitioner listens to your unique needs in the moments, adapting to the pressure and style that suits you.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage helps to melt away the cumulative stress of daily life through long gliding strokes and gentle kneading. This classic therapy enhances full body circulation, eases physical tension, and systematically lowers cortisol levels. The rhythmic pressure creates a deeply soothing experience that quiets the mind and revitalizes the body.

Dharma Hot Stones

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Dharma stone massage combines the grounding elements of traditional hot stone therapy with intentional spiritual mindfulness. This therapeutic ritual uses smooth, mineral-rich basalt stones that are heated. The stones are used as dynamic extensions of the therapists hands to glide, knead and press into tight muscle layers. The radiant heat expands blood vessels, dramatically boosting full body circulation while allowing the practitioner to melt away your tension.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is an intensive therapeutic treatment that can release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas, either following with or going across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia. It works by physically breaking down knots, contracted muscles, and adhesions to relieve pain and alleviate stress while helping to restore normal movement in your body. It can improve range of motion, helping you to move more freely.

Deep Tissue Massage

Sports Therapy

Sports Massage

Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class skiers to beginners. It is rooted in its intention to relieve tension from performance, as well as preparing the body for upcoming activity. Athletes have discovered that specially designed sports massage can promote flexibility, reduce fatigue, improve endurance, prevent injuries and prepare their body and mind for optimal performance.

Prenatal Massage

Prenatal Massage

Massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches, joint pains and improve labor outcomes. Our massage therapy will address different needs through varying techniques. We prefer Swedish and Esalen massage techniques for pregnant women. Both techniques will help to relax muscle tension, improve lymphatic and blood circulation and reduce edema through mild to moderate pressure. Your massage will help you to feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

Rachael Harper

Rachael Harper, RN, CMT

Certified Massage Therapist

With more than 25 years of medical nursing experience, Rachael brings a deep understanding of the human body—and the human experience—into every massage session. Her career began in nursing, where she spent 15 years in Labor and Delivery. It was there that she learned the art of truly listening: listening not only to patients’ voices, but to the subtle language of their bodies, emotions, and energy during some of the most vulnerable and powerful moments of their lives.

Rachael became a Certified Massage Therapist in 2021 through Cypress Health Institute in Santa Cruz, Ca. There she learned Swedish massage, Deep Tissue, Cranial Sacral and Polarity energy work through the 550 hour training program. She admired Esalen Massage for many years for its holistic approach, deep presence and nurturing effect. In 2026 she was able to study with Ellan Watson and Patrick Stockstill in Bali for a month. At that time she completed the additional 200 hour certification to become an Esalen practitioner. Rachael enjoys having several modalities and skills to help her clients with what their bodies need in the moment. She uses cupping, Gua Sha, hot stones, special anti-inflammatory oils combined with all of the techniques that she has been trained in over the years. Massage truly is her passion!
